What is a DBE?
DBE stands for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and is a designation awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to small businesses who apply and meet a list of criteria. The DBE program helps ensure that small disadvantaged business enterprises have fair opportunities to compete for Federally-funded transportation-related projects.
For Your Next RFP…
Be sure to include a section on marketing and communications for your next Federally-funded project. This can include everything from construction communication to your concessions projects. Specify that you are seeking a sub-consultant with aviation and/or transit experience — it pays to work with a company that is familiar with the nuances of this industry. You can also specify that you are seeking overall marketing and communications support, and you can also list specific types of projects you might like included, such as:
